PolArctic is seeking a talented and driven Data Scientist specializing in oceanographic environmental modeling to join our cutting-edge development team.

As a Data Scientist at PolArctic, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing oceanographic environmental models that harness the power of remote-sensing data.
Your work will contribute to critical insights into oceanic patterns and environmental changes, aiding in the sustainable management of marine ecosystems, and safe navigation.
You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, computer engineers, and policy experts to design, test, and refine predictive models, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Expectations:
Develop and implement advanced oceanographic environmental models using Python and remote-sensing data.
Analyze and interpret data from various remote-sensing sources, including SAR and NOAA datasets.
Collaborate with team members to integrate findings into broader research projects and environmental assessments.
Present research findings in a clear and concise manner, both in written reports and verbal presentations.
Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, remote sensing, and oceanographic research.
Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Proficiency in Python programming and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy).
Demonstrated experience with remote-sensing data, specifically synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and NOAA datasets.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret, clean, and use complex data sets.
Experience with machine learning techniques (PyTorch) and statistical modeling
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work remotely in a team environment.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to research challenges.
